Who is This Course for & Who Should Attend?

The Pediatric First Aid course which is part of our first aid courses is mandatory for all anyone working with children aged 0 to 15-year olds, particularly those working in nurseries. Schools, amusements parks, leisure and fitness centres that have an AED (defibrillator) at their facility.
Suitable for teachers, daycare staff, nannies, babysitters, sports coaches, lifeguards, maids and all those employees working in the service sector.

Both traditional face to face classroom teaching and blended e-learning options are available, including online assessment.

What Will I Learn On The Pediatric First Aid Course?

  2. Identifying how to minimise the risk of infection
  3. Understanding the requirements of a workplace first aid kit
  4. Assessing an incident and conducting a scene survey
  5. Identifying if a casualty is breathing normally
  6. Contacting and effectively communicating with emergency services
  7. How and when to put an unresponsive infant and child in the recovery position
  8. Dealing with a infant or child who is having a seizure
  9. Understanding the importance of early CPR and defibrillation
  10. How to perform CPR on an Infant and child
  11. Understanding the safe use of an Automated External Defibrator (AED)
  12. Learn the correct techniques to help an infant or child who is choking
  13. Identifying the signs of a partially and completely blocked airway
  14. Treating major and minor bleeds
  15. Identifying the signs and symptoms and treatment for hypovolemic shock
  16. Understanding the causes of hypovolemic shock
  17. How to treat minor burns and scalds

Course Pre-requisites & Assessment

No prior knowledge of first aid is required to enrol. Candidates must be at least 16 years old. Both theory and practical elements of the course must be passed to successfully gain this qualification.

Will I Get a Certificate?

Yes, upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate which is valid for three years. The certificate is approved by Highfield International Awarding Body For Compliance (HABC) and the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance (DAC)
