Have you heard of the famous saying; “home is where the heart is”? This saying cannot be more relevant than when referring to the safety of your loved ones at home. Trusting your family with a complete stranger is probably one of the toughest things you will have to do, especially if you have a job to return to at work, or a business to run and are unavailable to be with your children at home full time. How can you guarantee that this process will give you peace of mind, knowing that they are safe?

The steps you take in insuring the safety of your home are of utmost importance. Enrolling your nanny or caregiver on an Emergency Pediatric First Aid and Use of an AED course is a great place to start. This person will be entrusted to care for your child or children, and therefore should be equipped with all the necessary knowledge and skills to know what to do if an emergency were to happen. This will give you peace of mind, especially when returning to a demanding job role. Knowing that your nanny has been properly trained in Emergency Pediatric Response (EPR) & Emergency First Aid with certified international instructors with a medical background gives you confidence that your child is in safe hands.

At Blueguard Middle East we have created a bespoke Emergency Pediatric Response (EPR) Training and Emergency First Aid Training specifically designed for nannies. The qualification title is Emergency Pediatric First Aid and Use of an AED for Nannies course & this is part of our First Aid Training Courses. We have considered the lifestyle here in the United Arab Emirates and are aware that nannies, caregivers and childminders are responsible for child welfare, and play a central role within the family.

There is a large community of Pilipino nannies in Dubai therefore we also offer this course in Tagalog.

Upon successful completion of the Emergency Pediatric First Aid and Use of an AED for Nannies course your nanny will receive a certificate and license recognized by The Dubai Corporation of Ambulance in “Highfield Level 3 International Award in Emergency Pediatric First Aid and Use of an AED”.

The duration of the Emergency Pediatric First Aid and Use of an AED for Nannies course is 7 hours with a practical assessment. Upon successful completion of the assessment your nanny will get their certificate and license within 24 hours of sitting the course. For a blended learning option, they can complete the Online Pediatric First Aid course and then attend only a 5 hour in-person training for Emergency Pediatric First Aid and Use of an AED.

How Often Do I Need to Complete a PEDIATRIC First Aid Course for Nannies?

Upon successful completion of the Emergency Pediatric First Aid and Use of an AED course for nannies, your nanny will receive a certification and license, both of which are valid for three years. It is mandatory to renew this license every three years, although we advise that a nanny refresh their first aid knowledge and skills every 12 months to aid skills retention and remain competent.

Should I ask a babysitter, nanny or caregiver to take first aid classes?

Yes, absolutely. Any nanny that is responsible for the care and wellbeing of an infant, toddler or child must do a relevant first aid course. If an emergency were to occur, your nanny would be qualified to assess an emergency and provide effective first aid. Your child may become unresponsive, choke or sustain a serious bleed. They may be required to treat an infant or child with a suspected bone fracture or dislocation, a head, neck or back injury.
