Who Is The Course For & Who Should Attend?

The Wilderness First Aid & Incident Management course which is part of our first aid courses is for those individuals looking to have further knowledge and a better understand of First Aid in the Outdoors environment. This course is mandatory for all employees and individuals, particularly those working in the outdoors, adventure camps and hiking companies. The Wilderness First Aid course is suitable for mountains guides, climbing instructors, hiking guides, ultra-runners, adventure racers or anyone who is spending time in the outdoors where emergency services are not available.


How Is The Course Taught & Assessed?

Both traditional face to face classroom teaching, and blended e-learning options are available.

1- Know how to assess a scene and incident
2- Moving and Lifting a conscious and unconscious casualty
3- How mange a casualty suffering from shock
4- How to clean, close and dressing of wounds
5- How to control bleeds and major wounds
6- How to deal with facial injuries
7- How to deal with head, neck or back injuries
8- How to deal with Heat and Cold emergencies
9- How to help casualties with breathing difficulties and shortness of breath
10- How to deal with poisoning, bites and stings
11- How to protect yourself from the elements
12- Understanding emotional considerations
13- How to deal with Abdominal Problems
14- How to deal with Pain, Severe Pressure or discomfort in the chest
15- How to deal with Lighting strikes
16- How to recognise and deal with Altitude Illnesses
17- Understand Altered Mental Status
18- How to deal with Drowning incidents


Course Pre-Requisites & Assessment

Candidates must have completed an Adult CPR and First aid course. Candidates must be at least 16 years old. Both theory and practical elements of the course must be passed to successfully gain this qualification.


Will I Get a Certificate?

Yes, upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate which is valid for two years. The certificate is approved by American Safety & Health Institute
